Sixth-form students are an integral part of school life. They are very effective role models and often run clubs for younger pupils, who aspire to be like them. Sixth-form students take on a range of leadership roles to support school life. They are active in identifying new ways of improving the school experience for all.
Ofsted, November 2022
Choosing a place to study for A-levels is not easy. NGHS is a medium sized girls school, but this allows us to get to know everyone's strengths and weaknesses quickly before offering personalised learning to achieve the best results. And our students achieve very highly with 20% of A-levels graded A* and over 70% A*-B in 2023. In addition, over 50% of the Extended Project entries were graded A* in 2023 and this helps students access top university courses at prestigious institutions. In fact, over 85% of girls went on to their first choice of university last year. NGHS focuses on academic A-level courses; this is what we know best and this is where we succeed. In our Ofsted inspection in November 2022, NGHS was judged to be an OUTSTANDING school in all categories. This confirms our belief that we offer students from Newport, Telford, Wolverhampton, Market Drayton and Stafford the very best education possible.
One of NGHS's key strengths is in our leadership opportunities. As well as the Head Girl team, we have a number of House leadership opportunities, mentoring placements and leadership of clubs and activities for younger pupils. We will support your development and pastoral care with a dedicated Head of Sixth Form, team of tutors and our Sixth Form Well-being Officer taking care of your well-being. Our Year 12s also enjoy a weekend residential in Liverpool in early October.
NGHS has it all; excellent results, outstanding pastoral care and leadership chances to maximise your university or apprenticeship application. We are now accepting applications for Year 12 places in September 2025. If you are in Year 11 now, why not find out more by visiting our website? Our Open Events are coming up in November (see below) and we look forward to welcoming you to our school. If you have any other queries, please get in touch via NGHS6@nghs.org.uk
Good luck in your GCSEs!
